Interim Health Minister, Doctor Jona Senilagakali said the interim administration is concerned that the Fiji School of Medicine is currently taking an easy ride, which is resulting in a number of doctors leaving after graduating from the school.
Doctor Senilagakali said every year FSM gets about 4 million dollars in funding but the needs of the Health Ministry are not being fulfilled and they always have to go overseas to look for doctors.
Based on this decision, Doctor Senilagakali confirms that the interim administration will also support the new medical school at University of Fiji.
This would see FSM losing out on the arranged attachments of medical students at the Lautoka Hospital.
FSM is expected to comment later today.
