Former Navy Commander and Immigration Director Viliame Naupoto today moved into his new office at the Prime Minister's Office.
Commander Naupoto, who is the new Permanent Secretary to the Prime Minister, said it is a challenging job, as he knows Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama's work ethic.
Meanwhile, Commodore Bainimarama and his outgoing Permanent Secretary Parmesh Chand flew off to India today.
The purpose of the visit is a follow up on an earlier visit which Bainimarama undertook in February last year to inspect facilities at the Batra Hospital in New Delhi for overseas medical treatment of RFMF personnel.
It has also been confirmed that during this visit, Bainimarama will also conclude discussions with the government of India on the purchase of a property made available to Fiji for the construction of a Chancery in New Delhi.
The trip has been funded by the government of India.
Bainimarama is accompanied by his wife, Permanent Secretary for PSC Parmesh Chand and a personal security officer.
He returns next Tuesday and during his absence, Ratu Epeli Ganilau will be Acting Prime Minister.
