Good news for the people of Teci in Yasawa as they now have a community hall which will also be an evacuation centre during disasters.

Speaking at the opening of the new evacuation centre, Interim Prime Minister Commodore Frank Bainimarama stated that the centre is exemplary of the cooperation between the people of Teci and the Government. The government provided Teci with $47,500 through the Village Improvement Scheme.

The building cost around $100,000 and is designed as a multipurpose facility which villagers could use as a kindergarten, library and for village gatherings and most importantly as an evacuation centre.

Meanwhile Bainimarama noted that the interim government is looking at 31 similar projects which cost around one million dollars and facilitated under the Village Improvement Scheme program.
