Come next week, it will become compulsory for all drivers with a provisional license, repeat offenders and new drivers to undergo the defensive driving course to get a license to drive on our roads.
National Road Safety Council Executive Director Akapusi Tuifagalele said the new requirements will be enforced from Monday.
Meanwhile, the NRSC and Police have today revealed that there were no fatalities on our roads for the month of April.
Police records show that there has not been a fatality free month on our roads since before 2003.
However, there are over 2,286 drivers were booked for speeding in April and over 3000 booked for speeding in the first quarter of this year.
Police records also show that there were a total of 3,189 bookings for minor accidents, defects and traffic infringements which is also a decrease of around 42% from the same period last year.
