A new champion will be crowned in the Under 19 boys division of the Tuckers Ice Cream secondary school basketball, after defending champions Marist Brothers High School lost their quarterfinal match yesterday to Natabua High School 24-21.

It was a repeat of last year’s Under 19 final but Natabua’s solid defense stood tall in the last three minutes of the final quarter.

In another quarterfinal match Lautoka Central College showed their class after beating Yat Sen Secondary 45-26.

Central College was lead by former national Under 19 basketball and rugby rep Peter Gus.

Gus said there are still some areas that needed to be fixed before their semifinal.

 
Laucala Bay Secondary thrashed QVS 50-12 in another quarterfinal while Latter Day Saints beat John Wesley College 28-22 in another quarter.

Natabua will face Central College while Laucala Bay Secondary meets LDS in the Under 19 boys semifinals today.

In the Under 19 girls semifinals, ACS will meet Saint Joseph Secondary School while Jai Narayan College takes on Yat Sen.

In the Under 17 semifinals, LDS meet Natabua and Marist play Gospel High School.

Saint Joseph Secondary and LDS clash in the first Under 17 girls semi before Suva Grammar and International School Suva face off in the second semi.

In the Under 15 boys, LDS play QVS and Marist will face Suva Grammar in the semifinals.

Meanwhile, the Under 15 girls final has been confirmed between DAV Girls and Suva Grammar.

DAV Girls thumped defending Under 15 champions Saint Joseph secondary 31-8.

The semifinals will start at 8:30 this morning at the Vodafone Arena. 

At 1.30pm the finals will start.
