Police are expected to question a 27 year old woman of Yasawa soon after she allegedly buried her new born baby alive in Nacula last Tuesday.
Assistant Spokesperson, Corporal Josaia Weicavu has confirmed that the matter was reported to police over the weekend by the villagers and doctors of Nacula after foul smell was discovered coming from beside the woman’s house.
The woman is alleged to have buried her baby a few meters away from her home soon after she gave birth.
Police dug the decomposed body out and it is now at the Lautoka hospitals mortuary. Police are awaiting the post mortem report to determine the cause of death and to determine the baby’s gender.
The woman is admitted at Lautoka hospital and will be questioned upon discharge.
