New Zealand have broken a six year jinx at the Hong Kong 7’s, taking their fifth title in a row in the 2007/08 series with a 26-12 win over South Africa in the final last night, their seventh title in a row over the last two seasons.

Gordon Tietjen's team appear to be on an unstoppable march to an eighth IRB World Sevens Series in nine years having won 30 points in Hong Kong to go 38 points clear of the Springboks in the standings.

New Zealand now has 110 points while South Africa lies in second place with 72 points.

Fiji which is yet to win a tournament in the 2007/2008 IRB 7’s series is in third place with 62 points. The Joe Savou coached side lost 34-0 to New Zealand in the semifinal.

New Zealand will wrap up the series if they win in Adelaide this weekend.
