The Fiji Island Council of Trade Union (FICTU) has raised concern on the deferment of the new wages order to July 1st.
General Secretary Attar Singh said the interim government should realize that these will affect the poor and it is not as if the 20% wage increase would have solved all the problems.
He added that people would still be living below the poverty line.
Fijian Teacher's Association General Secretary Maika Namudu said otherwise.
The interim Prime Minister Commodore Bainimarama had directed that the new wages order which was to come into effect on the 1st of February, be deferred to the 1st of July.
