The Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama while addressing the members of the Tailevu Provincial Council yesterday, raised concerns in the increase in the number of indecent assault in the province.

Commodore Bainimarama said that there has also been an increase in theft cases, an increase in noise in the villages and new behavior is slowly seeping in as a result of modernization.

He said that as a result the Ministry of Fijian Affairs is looking at setting up new Village By-Laws to help in upholding rules and regulations in the villagers.

Commodore Bainimarama added that the indigenous Fijians are well known for their lay-back attitude in terms of development, some are not well educated, others are not productive in agriculture, some do not support the effort shown by others to maintain proper living standards, and all these attitudes have to change.

A draft of the Village-By-Laws has been handed out to the Roko Tui's who will discuss it with the Turaga-Ni-Koro's before it is implemented in the villagers.
