A new Tourism and Hospitality school is now opened in Rakiraki which is a partnership between Australia Pacific Technical College and the Tanoa Group.

The school is located within the Tanoa Rakiraki Hotel.

According to the APTC manager in Fiji, Jim Urwin the school is specifically for students from Fiji other than Namaka and for students from other Forum member countries.

Urwin said at the moment there are 33 students from seven countries and all the students are on full scholarship.

Urwin said APTC has campuses in the region namely Vanuatu, Samoa, Papua New Guinea.

Upon graduation, an APTC trained student is qualified with an Australian certificate three or four level.

Meanwhile the Attorney General and Minister for Tourism Mr Aiyaz Sayed Khaiyum said that it was quite exciting for this part of Fiji to have this type of institute, adding it is wonderful to have students living in Rakiraki attending this course.
