Not managing classes and having inadequate training to deal with situations may result in some teachers resorting to violence against their students.
These are the words of child psychologist Dr Selina Kuruleca whose comment comes after a student in Labasa was allegedly assaulted by her teacher in Labasa.
Dr Kuruleca said there is a need for continuous training and new teaching techniques.
Kuruleca stressed that assaulting students will not fix anything.
Meanwhile, police are now investigating the teacher who is alleged to have assaulted a female student.
