New free-to-air television channels are expected to hit Fiji within the next few months.
Skylight Productions boss, Richard Broadbridge who has managed to secure a TV license for his company, Mai TV Limited, said preparations are ongoing and they are just waiting for documents in relation to the license.
Broadbridge also said with the granting of more free to air TV licenses, it would be beneficial to the people of the country.
Permanent Secretary for Communications, Amena Yauvoli confirms that the documents in relation to the licenses approved by cabinet will be given to the new operators next week.
Meanwhile, another new player in the TV market Channel 2 Fiji Limited today announced its plans to start providing a free-to-air television channel by December this year.
Director Mark Lorenzetti said after 7 years of preparations Channel Two is ready to roll out the services and provide good programming for Fiji viewers.
He adds Channel Two is planning to invest over $10 million dollars in Fiji over the next few years. Channel Two has 12 transmitting sites on Viti and Vanua Levu and have plans to further expand to outer islands in 18 months.
