The Prices and Incomes Board (PIB) said consumers should not expect to see immediate reduction in prices on the food items which come under the zero percent tax umbrella from today.
PIB secretary Ane Naulivou said the new zero duty rate will only apply on any new stock purchased from today.
Naulivou said they are working closely with the Fiji Islands Revenue and Customs Authority to monitor the stocks of these items in the market.
