Well managed records are increasingly being accepted as essential to achieving transparency and accountability, they facilitate good governance.

These are the words of the Interim Prime Minister Frank Bainimarama at the opening of the new National Archives building this morning at Kimberly Street in Suva.

He said that the ultimate goal of the Department of National Archives is to develop an institution that will be a source of enduring knowledge to all citizens.

Bainimarama adds good record keeping can have a direct impact on the ability to implement laws and regulations.
