The new Flying Fijians head coach is likely to be known late next January or even February.

The application for the post will close on December 27th, which has attracted some from abroad and also locally.

Leading candidates include former Fiji 15s captain, Greg Smith, current FRU development manager, Sale Sorovaki with Alfred Uluinayau.

Fijivillage can confirm that applications have come in from Australia, New Zealand, Wales, Scotland and England who want to lead the Flying Fijians for the next four years.

Those who have not applied include Nadroga coach, Esala Nauga, technical adviser, Frank Boivert and Suva coach, Salimoni Ravouvou.

Also 1999 Rugby World Cup coach, Brad Johnstone has already indicated that he can assist in a strategic role but he said that he cannot take up a full time coaching position.

2007 RWC coach, Ilivasi Tabua who still has a court decision pending on his compensation issue based on his unfair dismissal from FRU, has said that he cannot say anything at this stage as the matter remains before the court.
