The move by the interim Minister for Local Government to dissolve town and city municipalities has been met with approval from a political party saying that it is long overdue.
The Fiji Peoples Party said that the extension of Councilors time in office given by the interim cabinet to all municipalities until the end of October next year is unjustified.
General Secretary Charan Jeet Singh and former Labasa Mayor said that dissolving their Councils should not be a problem to municipality heads if they had done their jobs correctly.
A normal Council life for any municipality is 3 years before new elections are held.
