Netherlands are through to the FIFA World Cup by defeating Uruguay 3-2 in the first football World Cup semifinal in South Africa, to set up an all European final with either Spain or Germany.

This has been a good outing for the Dutch side as they have had 6 successive wins en route to the Final. The only other time so many wins were racked up prior to the Final was by Brazil in 2002.

Two goals in three minutes midway through the second half from Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben gave Netherlands a 3-1 lead, but Uruguay's Maximiliano Pereira gave them some nervous moments with a late goal two minutes into stoppage time.

It will be the Netherlands third World Cup since 1978.

Netherlands will now take on the winner from the second semifinal between Spain and Germany will take place tomorrow morning at 6.30am.
