Negligence, laxity and irresponsible behaviour must go.
This was the stern warning from the Permanent Secretary for Works, Transport and Public Utilities, Cama Tuiloma while speaking to the Mechanical and Electrical and Plant Pool Staff last week.
Tuiloma said, there has been a no-care attitude of staff in almost every section of the Ministry, adding things have become rather worse and in most cases, there is no compliance with the law, no respect for authority and regulations and procedures are breached and not followed.
Tuiloma highlighted that people just do as they please and warned the staff that the commitment to good leadership and better management, active supervisory and monitoring responsibilities are almost zero.
He told the staff this must stop and things are going to change and turn around, adding that he intends to use every means and ways possible to reduce the abuse, corruption, laziness, unproductive practices and illegal activities in all sections of the Ministry.
