Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama said the negative stance now taken by some anti-government individuals is a direct response to having their perks removed, which he said were once received with various privileges.

As he returned to the country earlier today, Commodore Bainimarama said it is obvious to the government that once the perks and privileges held by these people is stripped away, they are going to be very upset and will do extremely destructive things for their own personal gain.

The Prime Minister said many of those who are complaining, initially joined the government ranks in 2007 but were thrown out because he said they could not adhere to basic principles of honesty and decency.

He said despite this, the government will aggressively push forward its reforms and the various programs identified to move the country forward.
