Negative reports needs to stop
This is the plea from various participants of the Fiji Australia Business Council Meeting to the FTIB Chairman, Commander Viliame Naupoto this morning at the Intercontinental Resort and Spa in Natadola.
During the question and answer session, Director for Mark One Apparel Mark Halabe asked if the Board had any plans in place to assist exporters who sell their products to countries who are always writing negative reports about Fiji, as they are feeling the effects.
In reply Commander Naupoto admitted there is nothing that can be done to stop overseas media from reporting negative things, as bad news sells, however he said they might look into the issue of hiring a Public Relations consultant to help look into the matter.
Meanwhile, Bank of South Pacific Country Manager, Greg Watson urged participants at the conference not to always wait for Government Incentives to make a decision on investing.
Watson said many investors have always based their decisions to invest, on how they can benefit from what the Government can offer them. However, he stresses this is not how to approach the issue.
He adds that a further advantage of investing in Fiji is the resilience of the economy to bounce back.
The meeting continues this afternoon in Natadola.
