Vodafone Flying Fijians wing Waisea Nayacalevu is out of the Rugby World Cup after sustaining a knee injury during the 28‑13 loss to Australia on Thursday.

Nayacalevu’s departure was confirmed by Fiji coach John McKee.

Nayacalevu is to return to his French club, Stade Francais for treatment and rehabilitation.

France‑based Timoci Nagusa will join the Fiji squad to replace Nayacalevu.

Nagusa has been playing on the wing for French club Montpellier since 2010.

McKee says scrum‑half Nikola Matawalu, who suffered bruising to his lower back against Australia, is expected to be available for training and selection.

Fiji’s next Pool A fixture is against Wales at Millennium Stadium next Friday.

Argentina got their Rugby World Cup campaign back on track when they beat Georgia 54‑9 in their Pool C clash this morning.

Argentina who lost their tournament opener to New Zealand on Monday, outscored their opponents by seven tries to none and their flyhalf Nicolas Sanchez impressed with his goalkicking, finishing with a 15‑point haul, through two penalties, three conversions and a drop goal.

In a physical encounter, especially the first half when Georgia gave as good as they got, Argentina’s experience and superior tactical play proved too good for their opponents and they stepped up a gear in the second half after holding a slender 14‑9 lead at the break.

Meanwhile, in tomorrow’s matches, Italy will play Canada at 1.30am, South Africa face Samoa at 3.45am, England face Wales at 7am while Australia clash with Uruguay at 11pm.
