The chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs Review Taskforce and chairman of the Kadavu Provincial Council, Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo has been voted out as chairman of his own provincial council.
Nawalowalo only received 6 out of the 31 votes during the election of the chairman at Jubilee Hall this morning.
The new Kadavu Provincial Council Chairman is Ratu Varani Rayawa while his deputy is Alexander Naisoro.
Ratu Josateki told Fijivillage on Monday that he was confident of retaining the chairmanship of the Kadavu council. Nawalowalo said his people knew his track record and all that he had achieved within the province.
According to Nawalowalo, the people of Kadavu have already made a commitment on the proposed People's Charter and the new GCC legislation.
