A Navua youth who injured two cows and then escaped from police custody after his arrest was sentenced to a total of 1 and a half years imprisonment this morning.

Navua Magistrate Mesake Wakanivonoloa was told that Saimoni Momoli on August last year injured two cows with a cane knife after a dispute with the complainant.

Momoli was arrested in March this year, however managed to break the hand cuffs and fled from police custody.

He pleaded guilty to the offences and asked the court for forgiveness but taking into the account the seriousness of the offence he was sentenced to 18 months behind bars.
