Water levels in the Navua River continue to rise and people are now seeking assistance to move to higher ground.
Acting Director for the National Disaster Centre Pajiliai Dobui said the Navy, Prisons and Police officers are being deployed to try and assist them.
The 5 evacuation centres in the Navua area are LDS church, Vashist Muni Primary, Rampur College, the Serua Provincial Council office as well as Jokhan Primary School.
Dobui added that several people are also taking shelter at evacuation centers in the Suva/Nausori corridor.
Over 140 evacuation centres have been set up in the Central and Eastern Division to cater for those families that have moved to safer areas as a result of the rising water levels in the Rewa River and Navua River.
