The Health Ministry is hoping plans to relocate the Navua Hospital will be fast tracked as the current location is always prone to flooding.
Media Liaison Officer Iliesa Tora said realistically, Navua Hospital needs to be shifted because every time there is a major flood in Navua, the hospital will undoubtedly be affected.
He added talks on the funding of the relocation have already begun, and hopes are high that by the end of 2010, the Hospital will be relocated.
The proposed site for the new Navua Hospital is at Namelimeli, about five minutes drive out of Navua town towards Suva.
Meanwhile, the hospital will remain closed until further notice, as clean up continues.
