A naval officer who is charged with assault has been sentence to 9 month imprisonment suspended for two years.
Nacanieli Bola appeared before Magistrate Ro Alipate Mataitini in a special court sitting today.
Bola who was drunk, punched his wife at their home in Samabula after his wife requested him to attend a family reunion which Bola refused on Saturday.
The court heard that the wife wanted to withdraw the case as they had reconciled.
However, Mataitini told the court that this is not a reconcilable matter once it is in court.
