The continuous rise in the Rewa River has forced Nausori Airport officials to close the Airport.

Airport Manager, Timoci Ravanua said that the Airport was shutdown at 2pm this afternoon as the water had reached their terminal area.

Ravanua adds that at the moment flood waters are rising slowly as the Rewa River continues to rise as well and adds that they sent their staff home early as a high tide is expected this afternoon.

After an assessment will be carried out tomorrow morning then a decision will be made on whether the Airport will open tomorrow.

Meanwhile, Pacific Sun has cancelled all their flights in and out of Nausori as a result of the flooding with flights to be rescheduled to a later date.

Water has slowly started receding in many areas in Sigatoka, and resident Sushil Sharma said that many houses have been damaged and farmers are the ones who have been hit very hard due to flooding.
