Commodore Viliame Naupoto will continue to act as Army Commander until the post is filled.
Following advice from the Constitutional Offices Commission, President, Ratu Epeli Nailatikau has extended the appointment of Commodore Naupoto as the Acting Commander.
The Constitutional Offices Commission has also approved that the position of the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military be advertised so that a substantive appointment can be made by the President in the near future.
The position for the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces will be advertised by the Constitutional Offices Commission in the media from next week.
