The Transport Minister is expected to present a paper in cabinet next month on when exactly the Road User Levy money collected this year will be utilized for road upgrade.

Timoci Natuva said he will submit a proposal to the first cabinet meeting next month as they have collected $8 million in Road User Levy so far.

His comments come after the Land Transport Authority said that it may take a number of years before the Road User Levy is used to upgrade road maintenance adding the levy is collected and deposited in a separate bank account from January this year, to be used later.

Spokesperson, Ratu Eroni Volavola earlier stressed that it is not their job to explain to motorists that the money collected for Road User Levy will be utilised later but government's job to explain as the LTA is only responsible for collecting the levy.
