The Interim Minister for Works is currently touring the Western Division assessing the damages caused by the flash floods.

Timoci Natuva, who is in Rakiraki with other senior work officials, said they will be able to give a detailed report on the extent and cost of damages after they also tour the Northern Division.

Acting Deputy Secretary for Planning and Design Paula Baleilevuka said the damages are a lot worse than it really is, as there are a lot of structural damages from the floods. He said the preliminary cost of damages so far is $6 million for the Western Division, $3.5 million for the Central Division, and $3 million in the North.

The team will be leaving for the North next week.
