The Health Ministry is in the final stages of a nationwide distribution of supplement tablets to young primary school students.
Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma said that with the alarming rate of anemia amongst young children, this is the only way they can address the issue.
Meanwhile, Doctor Sharma added that they will be also looking at strengthening their joint program with the Education Ministry to address refreshments sold in canteens around the country.
From 1993 to 2004, there was an increase of about 22% of children under the age of 5 who had anemia.
