National Youth Day celebrations to be held today
The march which is expected to start at 9am will see close to 300 youths take to the streets in Suva in a show of how young people can all be different but at the same time be able to help their communities grow.
Organising committee member, Willam Naisara said that following the two day workshop held in Suva, they will be using the march as an outlet for youth creativity.
A participant at the two day workshop Aisea Ratuniata said that one of the issues youths face is discouragement with their life goals and youths need to have a more positive attitude to succeed.
Meanwhile, Gospel Secondary School student, Ashnil Chandra said it is important for families to support youths.
The march starts at 9am this morning from the Suva Flea Market to Albert Park where a whole day of exhibitions from both Government and NGOs such as the Yellow Ribbon Campaign and the Fiji Red Cross Society.
Meanwhile due to the march, the Suva City Council would like to inform the general public that portions of roads from the Flea Market, Rodwell Road, Thomson Street, Victoria Parade ending at the Suva Civic Centre will be temporarily closed between 9 to 10am this morning.
Motorists are requested to use alternative routes during this time of temporary closure, and to take precautionary measures during the time of the march.
