A National Food Summit will be held in October to inform importers and manufacturers of the new Food Act which came into effect in June.
Health Minister Doctor Neil Sharma said this new Act was passed by Cabinet and they will be educating the retailers on quality issues and will be setting importing food standards.
Dr Sharma said the summit will also allow importers and manufacturers to understand the new health standards that are now in place.
This is the first ever Food Summit organized in the country and topics also discussed would be identifying areas where government can maximize profits.
