The National Fire Authority has applauded the effort of a family in Cabe place, Cunningham stage 3 whose house caught fire early this morning.

According to NFA, the family first informed them about the fire and later extinguished the fire themselves.

Acting Chief Executive, Jone Koroi said the family used their dry powder fire extinguisher to extinguish the fire.

Initial investigations have revealed that the cause of the fire was an electrical short circuit in the temporarily installed meter box which was connected to the lamp post located about 5 metres away from the house.

Koroi said this is an excellent example of how a well informed and prepared household can minimize the risk of fires getting out of hand and destroying property.
