The National Employment Centre is expected to start visiting all employers around the country in two weeks time to finalise the 6 months of compulsory job attachment.
Under the National Employment Centre Decree which was gazetted this year, all companies will have to take on people registered with the Centre on a ratio of 5 percent of their total workforce.
This attachment will be on a 6 months basis.
NEC Director Viliame Baledrokadroka said that they have had talks with the Fiji Employers Federation and are now focusing on other bodies and companies.
Baledrokadroka said that the consultation with the employers will raise awareness of their obligations and their corporate social responsibility under the Decree where it is compulsory for them to take on attachees for 6 months.
He stressed that the Decree has been gazetted so the companies will have to comply.
At the moment, the close to 5,800 unemployed people registered with the National Employment Centre are currently undergoing their second phase of training where they are having aptitude tests and will decide the field of interest.
