The National Council for Women has raised serious concerns after a public statement was released from the National Council for Building a Better Fiji stating that its vice-president had joined the NCBBF.
Speaking to FijiVillage last night, council president Miriama Leweniqila said they were surprised that such a statement was released without any confirmation from their organization.
She stressed that the National Council for Women would never be part of the charter process.
The head of the Technical Secretariat for the NCBBF, John Samy, is yet to comment, however, member of the NCBBF Media Team Jokapeci Koroi said she was not aware of the press statement issued on the matter and that it would be resolved at the National Council meeting this morning.
Meanwhile, vice-president for the National Council for Women, Asela Naisara, has today clarified that there was nothing in writing and official, therefore it would be wrong to state that she was a new inclusion to the National Council for Building a Better Fiji.
Naisara has hit out at recent criticism for her inclusion in the NCBBF saying she was approached on a personal level and therefore disagrees with the stand being taken by the National council for Women.
Speaking to Fijivillage this morning, Naisara said she has not received any formal request to date and was surprised to hear that she was one of the five new members to the National Council.
Naisara said she will be issuing a press statement later today clarifying her stand on the issue.
