In an effort to break the cycle of poverty in the country, the National Centre for Small and Micro Enterprises has started a ten day workshop to teach people on ways to operate a small business.
Co-ordinator, Kitione Toroca said about twenty people who are participating in the small business training will get certificates at the end of the training and will enable them to acquire small loan from the bank and start up own business.
Toroca said this will become source of employment and income for these people.
Meanwhile, also participating at the training workshop, Eromasi Ratu Lomai said he wants his children to finish education but he is struggling to send his four children to school.
Lomai said the workshop has given them a new direction in life and he intends to start a pig farming business.
Lomai said two of his children are not able to complete their education due to financial difficulties and starting up an own business will help them out of the poverty cycle.
The workshop ends this Saturday.
