The National Archives of Fiji for the first time will be opened for people to view Fiji's historical photographs tonight.  
 
The Permanent Secretary for Ministry of Information, Sharon Smith-Johns said photographs over the last 70 years will be on display for public viewing from Thursday till Saturday.

She is urging schools to make appointments with the National Archives Director as visitation starts from 9am tomorrow.
 
She added people need to be aware of Fiji's history that had been locked away for many years in the National Archives and out of 100,000 photographs, 200 are chosen to represent the rich and enormous collection.

She said the photo's chosen are of floods, earthquakes, industries back in the 60s and 70s, personalities of the time, state visits, military, the navy, old pictures of hibiscus festival and floats.
