National 7s selectors scouts talents in North
The Northern Rally which is a yearly 7s Rugby Tournament sees four teams, Macuata, Savusavu, Cakaudrove North and Wailevu meet each other in round robin competitions and then the winner goes on to represent the North.
FRU Development Officer, Sale Sorovaki said the players from the North have proven to be real assets with former players like Tevita Rabuli, Pio Bosco Tikoisuva and more recently Ilai Tinai, Willam Ryder and Rupeni Caucau.
He revealed that at the moment they have earmarked a player from the Savusavu Rugby team and will be sitting down today to assess his performance and will watch the finals tomorrow to assess his consistency.
Apart from the lone player from the Savusvau Rugby Team, Sorovaki said the level of commitment shown by the players from the North is outstanding, however at the end of the day they are looking at the consistency of players.
The Northern Rally finals kick off tomorrow at Ganilau Park at 1pm where Wailevu takes on Cakaudrove North and at 3.30pm Macuata will face off with Savusavu.
