The Natabua High School along with the ex scholars committee are gearing up for their 80th anniversary that is set to kick off in September.

President of the old scholars association Ledua Vakaloloma said former students around the country have been meeting in their various branches and liaising with the school management and former scholars now living abroad for the two day celebrations.

Vakaloloma said that they are encouraging all former and current students, principles, teachers, businesses and the community of lautoka to join in the celebrations.

Initially set as the first secondary school for Indian boys, the secondary school section was established with enrollment of only 14 pupils.

In its initial existence, the school also served the first 11 years as a teacher’s training school with one principal serving both schools.

During the same period some 130 boys were enrolled at the school before girls were allowed to enroll in 1938.

The Natabua 8oth Anniversary will be on the 17th and 18th of September.
