The construction of a mortuary and a HIV centre is what the people of Nasinu will be fundraising for when their carnival kicks off next weekend.
Nasinu Mayor Rajeshwar Kumar said the Nasinu people always have to travel far to look for a mortuary to store the bodies of their loved ones and this can be a costly affair.
Kumar added their target is to raise $150,000 for this project.
Sponsoring the carnival as title sponsors is mobile phone company Digicel.
Fiji CEO John Delves said their sponsorship is part of the company's extensive community program adding that their contribution will help raise the much-needed funds for the town's council projects.
The Digicel Nasinu Carnival will start on the 22nd right through to the 29th of November.
