Economist Doctor Wadan Narsey has rubbished former interim Finance Minister Mahendra Chaudhry's statement that Doctor Narsey gave a charge of $1,000 a day to give advice to the Finance Ministry on economic matters.

Chaudhry revealed that last year, he invited Doctor Narsey for a meeting as he had spoken about the economic situation a lot in the media.

He said discussions focused on ways the economy could improve and if he could provide some advice. Chaudhry said during the meeting, Doctor Narsey told him that he could give advice as a consultant and his fee would be $1,000 a day.

Chaudhry said he did not call Doctor Narsey back after that meeting last year.

When contacted by Fijivillage on the matter, Doctor Narsey said he did not want to comment on the matter because what Chaudhry said was rubbish and he did not wish to get into the debate.
