Communications Fiji Limited, the parent company of Fijivillage, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang and Radio Sargam are proud to announce that it's News Director, Vijay Narayan has scooped the major Pacific Radio Award for 2009.

Narayan was last night awarded the PINA/Radio Australia Pacific Radio Journalist of the Year in the Pacific Islands News Association Convention in Vanuatu.

Narayan won the award for six series of stories which include a December 5th 1st year anniversary special in 2007, coverage of the Pacific Islands Leaders Forum, coverage of Hurricane Daman as it approached Fiji, coverage of the aftermath of the worst floods ever to hit Fiji earlier this year, the FHRC Media Report and May 14th "the coup culture". His work also included the first ever one and half hour live talkback on Fijivillage, Viti FM, Navtarang and Sargam with Prime Minister, Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama after the December 5th takeover.

In 2006, CFL's Vijay Narayan was awarded the Fiji Media Council's inaugural Robert-Keith Reid Award for Outstanding Journalism.

Narayan has also won the Fiji Radio Journalist of the Year Award for three consecutive years from 2006 to 2008 and was awarded Fiji's Radio Presenter of the Year and Best Coverage of Single Events over the three years.

Apart from this, Narayan is also the Chairman of FIT's Media Industry Advisory Council.
