Former Marist Brothers High School long distance runner Ratutira Narara has been confirmed to join the Athletics Team Fiji for the Pacific Games.

Fiji Athletics President, Joseph Rodan Senior says Narara has been chosen to replace Natabua High School sprinter Batinisavu Uluiyata who pulled out from the Team after signing a two year contract with Toulon Rugby Club in France.

Rodan says that Narara’s 400 metres personal best is 48.5 seconds which is the faster then Uluiyata’s time.

He adds that the Gold medal in the 400 meters is not lost, as they have five runners in the 4x400 meters event.

Out of the ten top 400 meters runners in the South Pacific, Fiji has seven of them.

The Pacific Games will be held on the 4th to the 18th of next month in Papua New Guinea.
