Namibia warns Flying Fijians
Hooker Hugo Horn believes the team’s balance of old and new has them ready to record their strongest Rugby World Cup result.
Horn said the team has been coming along around four or five years and they are more familiar with each other.
In 2007 Namibia did not know they would be participating in France until six months before the tournament began.
But they have known for nearly two years they would be making the trip to New Zealand and Horn said the extra time had been beneficial to his team's preparation as they strive to win their first RWC match.
Many of the players had also benefitted from playing with teams in high level domestic competitions in countries such as South Africa and England.
This has not gone unnoticed in the Flying Fijians home base in Tauranga.
Assistant coach Greg Mumm said they have a lot of respect for their pool opponents.
Namibia is the lowest ranked team in the RWC and they sit in 20th spot on the IRB rankings.
Up until recent years Namibian players were eligible to represent the Springboks, including Percy Montgomery.
Fiji’s opening pool game is against Namibia this Saturday at 3.30pm and you can catch the live commentary on our sister station Viti-FM with the new voice of rugby Malakai Veisamasama and 2007 World Cup coach Ilivasi Tabua.
