Leone Nakarawa will be representing Fiji for his second World Cup but this time it’s in 7s rugby.

The 6 foot 6 inches lock forward is the only player in the squad along with Vereniki Goneva who represented Fiji in the Rugby 15s World Cup as well.

Nakarawa and Goneva were both part of the Flying Fijians 2011 World Cup team.

The 25-year- old hails from Mokoisa village in Tavuki, Kadavu is a former Vatukoula Primary School and Tavua College student.

Nakarawa said the 7s World Cup is special for him because he knows they have a chance of winning it compared to the 2011 15s World Cup in New Zealand.


The national side will leave for Moscow next Monday where Fiji will play Tonga at 12.28am next Saturday in their first pool match. 

Fiji then takes on Uruguay at 6.28pm next Saturday and Fiji’s last pool match is against Wales at 12.42am Sunday. 

The Cup quarter finals start at 9pm Sunday, the Cup semis kick off at 12.40am Monday while the World Cup 7s final will start at 4.55am Monday.
