Taqele Naiyaravoro is expected to activate a break clause in his contract with the Glasgow Warriors to join the Waratahs for the 2016 Super Rugby season.
Naiyaravoro signed a three‑year deal with the Glasgow Warriors after an impressive 2015 Super Rugby season with the Waratahs.
The Glasgow Warriors finish their 2016 season on May 7.
Waratahs coach Daryl Gibson says Naiyaravoro is welcome to return to the Waratahs if he wants to.
In the opening round of the Super Rugby next Friday, the Blues will play the Highlanders at 6.35pm while the Hurricanes will play the Brumbies at 8.40pm.
On Saturday, the Crusaders will take on the Chiefs at 6.35pm and the Waratahs will play the Reds at 8.40pm.
On Sunday, the Kings will play the Sharks at 1am and the Bulls will clash with the Stormers at 3.05am.
