“We will try to win the Skipper Cup and Farebrother Sullivan trophy for you.”
These were the words of the Mosese Luveniyali while delivering his eulogy on behalf of the Naitasiri Rugby Union at the funeral service of their late coach Eroni Vereivalu.
Luveniyali said Vereivalu helped Naitasiri win the Farebrother Sullivan trophy twice from Nadroga during his ten years with the union from 2004.
Meanwhile, Telecom Fiji Warriors lock forward Alipate Mataivelia is thankful for the guidance of the late Eroni Vereivalu.
Vereivalu coached Mataivelia in the Naitasiri side, the Fiji Warriors in the Pacific Rugby Cup this year and the East team during the AON East versus West challenge last year.
Mataivelia said he will surely miss Vereivalu because he was one of the coaches that guided him through his rugby career.
Mataivelia added Vereivalu always reminded him that he can reach greater heights like Wallaby centre Tevita Kuridrani and France winger Noa Nakaitaci.
Vereivalu who was the Assistant Principal of Marist Brothers High School coached Kuridrani and Nakaitaci at the Junior World Championship in 2008 where Fiji finished 6th which is the best ever finish so far.
Last week Kuridrani wrote the words ‘RIP Master’ on his wrist band when he featured for the Brumbies against the Force.
In her eulogy, Vereivalu’s wife Arieta said her husband was a great father, teacher and coach.
Vereivalu who was the Marist Under 18 and Naitasiri coach was farewelled in a moving church service at Calvary Temple today.
Vereivalu is survived by his wife Arieta and five children.
