Members of the Naitasiri Provincial Council have questioned the Chairman of the Great Council of Chiefs Review Committee, Ratu Josateki Nawalowalo why former Vice President, Ratu Joni Madraiwiwi was asked to leave office when President, Ratu Josefa Iloilo is still in office.

As the Naitasiri Provincial Council meeting got underway in Vunidawa this morning, the GCC Review Chairman, Nawalowalo was invited to explain the reasons for the review of the GCC and the new regulations governing the GCC.

Our reporter at the meeting, Tokasa Rainima said one of chiefs from Naitasiri, Ro Seru Tuisese questioned Nawalowalo why Ratu Joni was asked to step down when he was appointed by the Great Council of Chiefs.

Nawalowalo explained that Ratu Joni was not terminated or asked to leave office as he resigned in late December 2006.

Meanwhile the new Naitasiri Provincial Council Chairman was appointed this morning. He is former SDL minister, Ilaitia Tuisese.
