Fiji born and Newcastle Knights duo, Wes Naiqama and team-mate Akuila Uate received top awards, amongst their opponents worldwide at a glittering awards presentation at the Tower of London.

Naiqama received an award for being Fiji’s Player of the Year while Uate received the award for the Best Winger of the Year from the Newcastle Knights.

Kangaroos and Melbourne Storm fullback Billy Slater, who also won the Dally M medal as the NRL’s Best Player of 2011, was named the Rugby League International Federation Player of the Year after edging out Australian and Storm team-mate Cameron Smith and New Zealand skipper Benji Marshall.
